Hyundai Puts the Whole Charging Network in One App

Hyundai Auto Canada and Genesis Canada have rolled out unified in-app charging across their connected vehicle platforms, according to the automakers. The update lets owners locate, activate and pay for charging sessions from a single mobile application, linking to a combined North American network spanning Tesla, ChargePoint, FLO and the Electric Circuit.

The software arrives alongside a complimentary NACS adapter program for eligible owners of Combined Charging System vehicles delivered before the end of 2025. Covered models include the Hyundai IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6 and Kona Electric, along with the Genesis GV60, Electrified G80 and Electrified GV70. Owners can claim the adapter after a dealership inspection and app enrollment.

Jeff Hewitt, director of connected digital experience at Hyundai Auto Canada and Genesis Canada, said integrating charging networks directly within the automakers' apps lets drivers locate and start sessions wherever they travel. The approach, he added, expands practical access to fast charging for Canadian owners.

It reflects a broader industry shift. Automakers are increasingly removing friction from the public charging experience themselves rather than waiting on network operators to solve interoperability, and as more manufacturers pursue similar software layers, standalone charging networks face growing pressure to support smooth cross-platform access rather than compete on hardware deployment alone.
